Mesap Goes to Europe: the monthly in-depth look at MESAP European activities

APRE Course: How to maximise the impact of a collaborative proposal in Horizon Europe

WHEN: 7 December, online

MESAP marks its second appointment of the year with APRE, open to all members of the Poli di Innovazione Piemonte System. After the success of the one dedicated to legal and financial aspects, we are happy to invite you to the next appointment which will focus on maximising impact in Horizon Europe collaborative proposals.

The course, delivered as a webinar, will provide an in-depth look at this crucial section of the project proposal and will analyse its impacts, which are particularly relevant for the European Commission’s evaluation, which thoroughly investigates the impacts generated by projects, even before funding them, in order to promote tangible socio-economic progress.

The framework of the APRE 2022 courses is the new European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation 2021-2027. With a budget of approximately EUR 100 billion, Horizon Europe is the most ambitious research and innovation programme ever. Horizon Europe aims to strengthen the scientific and technological foundations of the EU and the European Research Area, improve the innovative capacity and competitiveness of the European industrial system and generate employment in Europe.

Silicon Europe Alliance celebrates 10 years: from project to electronics Alliance

This month we attended the international trade fair Semicon Europa, held in conjunction with electronicaFair in Munich, Bavaria, where the partners of the Silicon Europe Alliance gathered to celebrate its 10th anniversary. In 2012, Silicon Europe began as an EU-funded project to promote cooperation and innovation in Europe. Since then, it has become much more than just a project, a strong European collaboration has developed that connects virtually every month and meets twice a year in person to discuss current high-tech industry issues at European and national level.

To date, Silicon Europe Alliance represents a meta-cluster, consisting of 11 European clusters, representing more than 2000 companies and research institutes operating in the following fields of application: smart industry, smart mobility, smart health and smart living.

The trip was also an opportunity to hold the project meeting of the new Silicon Eurocluster project, in which MESAP is a partner, which kicks off on 1 September 2022, bringing together 10 member clusters of the Alliance. The aim is to support European sovereignty in the microelectronics, components and systems (ECS) sectors, while contributing to a greener, digital and resilient future in Europe.

DREAM Eurocluster: Join the Community

As of 1 September 2022, 30 Euroclusters were launched to implement the EU Industrial Strategy. These are cross-sectoral, interdisciplinary and trans-European strategic industrial cluster initiatives consisting of 171 partners, covering 23 different countries and 14 sectors of the industrial ecosystem.

DREAM – Digital Resilient Europe for Advanced Manufacturing represents the Eurocluster dedicated to the DIGITAL Strand: it aims to support SMEs in accelerating the adaptation of digital technologies and processes to transform manufacturing companies into greener, more digital businesses. The project will support 35 collaborative projects involving SMEs through a cascading funding mechanism to support the introduction of their innovative digital technologies into the manufacturing market for more sustainable production processes

These synergies and collaboration opportunities will make our ecosystem more resilient, green and digital.

  • Strengthening networks by developing value chain interconnections in the EU single market
  • Innovating for strategic autonomy to build capabilities in the most critical supplies and technologies of their ecosystems
  • Adopting processes and technologies to strengthen the transformation to a greener and digital economy
  • Training to help update and retrain the workforce while attracting talent
  • Promoting internationalisation to facilitate access to global supply and value chains.

MIND4MACHINES: Bootcamp & Consortium Meeting

On 23-25 November, MESAP hosted in Turin the consortium meeting of the EU MIND4MACHINES project, the Horizon 2020 initiative that supports SME projects capable of improving the production processes of manufacturing companies through digital technologies.

The meeting was an opportunity to set up activities on the acceleration services available to companies and finalise the second 1.5 million Open Call for spring 2023. The activities also included a visit to DIG421 and TESI Square, which together have created the new multidisciplinary, multi-company hub in Roreto di Cherasco (CN) open to companies, professionals and students to disseminate knowledge and skills on innovation and new business models.

GREENSME: Supporting SMEs for sustainable manufacturing

The GreenSME project finally has a website!
The Horizon Europe initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of manufacturing SMEs through the adoption of digital technologies while respecting the environment and social sustainability. The manufacturing industry remains one of the main drivers of the European economy and for this reason MESAP considers it essential to guide manufacturing SMEs towards both environmental and social sustainability through technology and KETs.

Through Open Calls, starting in 2023, the project will support companies in their sustainability journey by implementing a plan to deploy methodologies and skills to support sustainability and in line with European policies.
